ELSA Naples is pleased to welcome you to its Summer Law School on Transnational Organized Crime from 21 to 27 July 2019. The law school will take place in one of the oldest Universities in the world. Founded in 1224, “Federico II” University has a legal studies tradition that goes back many centuries and since then it has attracted the most renowned scholars within the International Law community.
Nowadays issues as drugs, weapons trafficking and trade of human beings have to be addressed with an international and cooperative approach. Participants will have the chance to take full advantage from lessons held by high profile international lecturers in order to acquire specific knowledge in the field of Organized Crime.
Beside a broad academic programme, including active learning, we will delight you with a wide variety of entertaining social activities. You will experience the life of a Neapolitan student, by immerging yourself into local traditions and habits: every meal will let you taste different typical dishes (delicious pizza is only the beginning!), every guided tour will let you discover our millenary history, every warm night will amuse you.
Naples’ clear July sky is waiting for you, and so are we with open arms!
The scientific programme opens with an overview on principles of International and European Union Law, and develops with specific topics related to cooperation on transnational organized crime.
Lectures will be paired with case studies, a workshop and an open-air lesson, focusing on the topics listed below:
-Illegal Trafficking (drugs and weapons);
-Trafficking of counterfeit goods.
The United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (Palermo Convention) will be discussed during the conference taking place in the evocative venue of “Federico II” University.
The end of the week will be devoted to preventive measures and participants will have the chance to visit a seized property formerly belonging to camorra and now managed by the ONLUS “Libera”.
